For the Families:
It is within the founding of Delta Zeta Sorority, whose purpose is to create a true and lasting friendship among a group of women, to encourage one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote values-based living and embrace social responsibility.
Each of us wants to make friends, learn new things and do something that matters. In 1902, six young women formed an organization that would help them move these ideas forward.

Welcome to the Delta Zeta family. As a member of our Sorority, your daughter is joining an organization dedicated to promoting high ideals of friendship, educational and cultural interests, a true sense of social responsibility, and developing the best qualities of character.
Delta Zeta welcomes thousands of exceptional young women into membership each year at 170 college campuses throughout the United States and Canada.
“The purpose of this sorority shall be to unite its members in the bonds of sincere and lasting friendship, to stimulate one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote the moral and social culture of its members, and to develop plans for guidance and unity in action; objects worthy of the highest aim and purpose of associated effort."
Constitution of the Delta Zeta Sorority, Article II, Sections 1. and 2.
Promoting service, sisterhood, scholarship, social advancement and leadership, Delta Zeta offers outstanding opportunities to its members, both collegiate and alumnae alike.
It is our pleasure to write to you about the Xi Lambda chapter of Delta Zeta at The University of San Francisco. Our chapter is the oldest Greek organization on campus with over 125 active members. All of our members are involved in activities outside of Delta Zeta; among these are, business clubs, the Vitality dance club, academic fraternities, club sports, internships, and much more. We have succeeded in accomplishing many of our chapter's goals, including raising our cumulative GPA, engaging in more diverse campus involvement, and continuing to improve our philanthropic fundraising and service efforts.
New Member Education:
Before your daughter is formally initiated into Delta Zeta, she will experience a period of time referred to as the “New Member Semester.” The New Member Semester is at least a 6-week program that prepares a new member for initiation. It provides education on the Sorority’s history, purposes, expectations, and clarifies the privileges and responsibilities of lifelong membership.
Delta Zeta’s New Member Semester strives to guide each of our new members through not only their start as a sister of Delta Zeta, but throughout their college career as well. Our Vice President of New Member Education and her assistants inform the new members about Delta Zeta by teaching values such as leadership, academic excellence, philanthropy and sisterhood. New members will be given a strong foundation for their journey through Delta Zeta and The University of San Francisco, as well as equip them with the skills and values that will help them succeed far beyond their collegiate years.
Scholarship:
Academic achievement is one of our most coveted values. Our chapter works diligently to maintain an environment where scholastic success remains an important role in our membership journey. We incorporate the following programming into our chapter’s calendar to help motivate, support and recognize all of our members:
Dues:
Membership costs include fixed fees from the Sorority and the local collegiate Panhellenic. The dues for the new member semester are $600, and every semester following is $450. In the first semester, new members' dues include their Delta Zeta badge, which symbolizes the values and and ideals of the sorority and is something that unites Delta Zetas nationwide. Aside from that, our dues also cover apparel items, chapter-wide retreats, social tickets, formal tickets, activities and sisterhood events. Xi Lambda has been able to put on many exciting events for our chapter, including Giants games, a formal at the Mystic Hotel, bowling, a retreat at the Chaminade resort, and much more!
We are thrilled to hear that your daughter has interest in the greek community here at USF. The greek community at USF is unlike any other community: we are a tight-knit community that place emphasis on our values of leadership, scholarship, service and philanthropy. Together, our greek community aims to defy greek stereotypes and build a greek community that is founded in friendship. When our greek values are coupled with the University's Jesuit values of social justice and diversity, we are able to create a culture that allows members to strive and grow. We are so proud to be an organization that strives to empower women and we are excited to meet and share what Delta Zeta is all about. If you have any questions, please contact us.
With love that is ever steadfast,
Taylor Aldrich

- Sisters for Success: An annual event for our chapter where new members are paired with an older member, of the same major or focus, to receive guidance and advice on classes, professors, and anything academic.
- Study Table Hours: Women must complete a number of hours per semester to support academic achievements.
- All members that do exceptionally well with academics receive chapter acknowledgement as well as awards.
